Nikolaus Hölzl takes over sole management

Geschäftsführung von HURCO Nikolaus Hölzl

Nikolaus Hoelzl will take over sole management of the company in January 2026. The dual leadership structure deliberately established last year will thus come to an end as planned. The previous co-managing director, Michael Auer, is stepping down from the management board and retiring. He held a senior management position for around 16 years and had a lasting impact on the company’s development.

Nikolaus Hoelzl has a solid technical and commercial education and understands the requirements of machining production from various perspectives. After studying industrial engineering and mechanical engineering, he began his professional career in assembly. He then gained many years of experience in the international sales of machine tools.
For over ten years, Nikolaus Hoelzl held positions of responsibility for various export markets, including Central and Eastern Europe, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey, before being appointed to the management board in 2025.

“Over the past twelve months, Michael Auer has been passing on his experience in a targeted manner and preparing me to take on sole responsibility,” says Nikolaus Hoelzl, looking back on the joint transition phase.

In his role as managing director, Nikolaus Hoelzl focuses on collegial cooperation and short coordination channels. For him, it is crucial that decisions are made close to the practical reality and are based on the actual requirements in production. He sees a stable organization as the basis for providing customers with reliable support in the long term.

One focus is on the efficient use of existing machine potential. In his view, practical automation solutions for small and medium-sized series play a particularly important role. The aim is to provide solutions that can be integrated into existing manufacturing processes without great effort and that are actually used in everyday operations.

“We see ourselves as a partner that provides flexible support to contract manufacturers in their day-to-day business,” emphasizes Nikolaus Hoelzl. The key factor here is that machines, control systems, and automation are coordinated in such a way that productivity, usability, and process reliability remain in balance.

Despite continuing challenging economic conditions, Nikolaus Hoelzl is confident about the coming year. A key factor in this is a clear focus on solutions that prove themselves in changing production conditions and bring measurable benefits to users in their operations.
